The FJ1100's, and the later 1200's were very highly regarded motorcycles, still sought after to this day. The most lasting
impression of the FJ's was the wonderful power provided by the engine. Despite being a simple, air cooled, overhead cam, four
valve per cylinder design, the engine was a torque monster, allowing it to pull from 3000rpm on up. It could be short-shifted,
or revved out. The FJ's have proven their longevity again and again, and many 100,000+ mile bikes are still going strong.
Not too many changes were made to the FJ's over the years. There was the obvious jump from 1100 to 1200 in 1986, the addition
of ABS in '92. Only a few complaints have emerged since 1984. The front brake is fairly weak, and the rotors have a tendancy
to warp. 2nd gear is also weak, and it can jump out of gear when worn. Both of these problems can be solved by the aftermarket."
The original rear wheel 16/3.5(What where they thinking) was replaced with a ZX9 rear wheel 17/5.5 some machining was necessary.Fitted
with a 180/50/17 tire, which drastically improves handling and the rear view . Click on pic to see a larger picture, then the Back button |
